Introducing ellesse X Liam Hodges
Reading Time: 2 minutes
In an ellesse archive inspired capsule collection, British designer Liam Hodges shines a whole new light on our skiing and snowboarding apparel heritage.
The London based menswear designer has been making serious style waves since launching his eponymous label in 2014, re-working streetwear silhouettes with exaggerated cuts, experimental techniques and a signature underground aesthetic.
Fast forward to 2019 and his debut collaboration with ellesse — a premium, collection that takes a deep dive into our skiwear archive and brings Hodges’ unique futuristic vision into the mix.
‘I think it’s really exciting that you get a brand like ellesse who aren’t just re-hashing their past, but are actually looking further to the future,” says Hodges.
These pieces are loaded with technical details but have Hodges’ handwriting all over them. ellesse style icons like the ski jacket and jet pant are re-imagined with an alpine-inspired colour palette and geographic map prints.
Trainer silhouettes take inspiration from classic snow boots but are given Hodges’ signature twist with rubber details and an ultra-chunky silhouette.
Even the iconic Semi Palla gets the Hodges’ treatment, combining both brand logos and topping everything from track pants to T-shirts.
Hodges favourite part? “We were trying to recreate the idea of ice crystals and snow and
we did it through working with a scientist to make salt crystals and develop them through
microscopic lenses into a repeat print, which was something quite exciting for us to do.”
The ellesse X Liam Hodges collection launches on 23rd August, 2019.
