In partnership with Metropolis Studios London, ellesse’s music series returns for a 2nd consecutive year. With a hotbed of over 10 exciting new acts to announce, ellesse sessions showcases some of the UK’s brightest artists from an array of music genres. The music series unearths some of the hottest talent out there with ellesse championing their sound, style and music whilst creating the perfect platform for them to showcase their skills.
Dropping into Metropolis Studios next was indie-folk singer/songwriter L.A. Salami, who lays down a couple tracks from his latest album The City of Bookmakers released back in April on Sunday Best Recordings.
Fostered at a young age, Salami spent the majority of his childhood moving tirelessly between his foster parents in Kent and birth mother in Peckham, South London. It was only until he borrowed a guitar in his late teens for the first time that Salami channelled his musical inspirations of Bob Dylan, Acoustic Rock and Blues into adopting his own unique style and sound. Later purchasing his own guitar at the age of 21, Salami’s story is one of encouragement and motivation, gigging effortlessly until finally making his major breakthrough supporting Lianne La Havas on tour back in 2012.
Now, with two albums under his belt and having headlined countless European and US shows, L.A. Salami has truly blossomed into an artist of his own clear following. For ellesse, he offers two superb takes of ‘Look Who’s Cursing Us Now?’ and ‘Anything’s Greener Than Burnt Grass’, two tracks that effortlessly combine the distinctiveness of modern indie with remnants of folk melodies of the past.
All that’s left to do is tune in, turn the volume up and get down to the sounds of the ellesse sessions!
