ellesse sessions x Nina Nesbitt

In partnership with Metropolis Studios London, ellesse’s music series returns for a 2nd consecutive year. With a hotbed of over 10 exciting new acts to announce, ellesse sessions showcases some of the UK’s brightest artists from an array of music genres. The music series unearths some of the hottest talent out there with ellesse championing their sound, style and music whilst creating the perfect platform for them to showcase their skills.

Next up we invited the charismatic and charming singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt to come down to Metropolis Studios to perform  her latest single, ‘Somebody Special’. Having released ‘The Moments I’m Missing’ and ‘The Best You Ever Had’ last year, 2018 is already shaping up to be her most promising yet, touring across the UK and US, and working on the road towards the release of her upcoming album.

Here in Metropolis Studios, the 23-year-old Scot, supported alongside by the London Contemporary Voices Choir, performs a stunning and captivating rendition of ‘Somebody Special’, transcending her own tales and life stories through such truthful lyricism and pop melodies.

All that’s left to do is tune in, turn the volume up and get down to the sounds of the ellesse sessions!

Before Nina flies state side for her US tour in June, you can catch her down at her remaining UK shows here:

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A bartender cause I wanted to see over the other side of the bar. I guess that’s transferred to a singer because I wanted to be on the stage instead of the crowd.

What’s the strangest way you’ve ever made money?

I had two jobs before doing music and they were pretty standard. Floor sweeper and tea maker in a hair salon, and changing room assistant in River Island.

Skiing or tennis?

At the ellesse annual Christmas dinner, which 5 guests would you bring and why?

My little pomeranian, my boyfriend and whatever 3 friends were around that day!

How would you explain your music to an OAP?

Pop music with personal storytelling lyrics. I call it suburban pop.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

As obvious as it sounds, stay true to yourself. No one can be you better than you and people can sense when something is authentic or not.

What’s the worst item of clothing you’ve ever worn?

McKenzie tracksuit to school. I wish I had pictures but I don’t. I’m sure you can imagine it. I went through a chav phase.

If you could go back to any era of fashion, what would it be and why?

90s because it’s right up my street! I feel like I live in that era as it is but it would be cool to see it all first hand.

What’s the most diva thing you’ve done?

I once flew first class to Hong Kong for a job (I’d never flown first class) and I was supposed to sleep on the plane there cause there was a dinner on arrival but I was too excited about the silver cutlery so was awake the whole time. It was AMAZING.

Who would play you in a film or Netflix series of your life?

I’m OBSESSED with Julia Roberts. I know we are nothing alike but I love every single film she’s done and she’s my favourite actress. I think she’s amazing at portraying so many different characters.

What’s the most impressive thing you’ve built from ikea?

I’ve never built anything from Ikea it would be upside and back to front if I did.
